Welcome to the Gnosis Tube India Creator Glossary.
The Creator Economy is full of confusing jargon, complex analytics, and strict tax rules. We built this living dictionary to give Indian YouTubers simple, plain-English definitions for the terms that actually impact your revenue and growth.

A
APV (Average Percentage Viewed)
A core retention metric. It shows how much of your video the average viewer watched before leaving. For YouTube Shorts to go viral, you generally need an APV of over 85%. For long-form videos, an APV above 40% is considered strong.
ASCI Guidelines
The Advertising Standards Council of India. They mandate that all sponsored content must be clearly labeled with "Paid Partnership," "Ad," or "Sponsored" to protect consumers. Failing to comply can result in severe legal penalties.

C
CPM (Cost Per Mille)
How much advertisers pay YouTube for 1,000 ad impressions on your video. This is an advertiser metric, not a creator metric. It shows how "valuable" your niche is. Finance channels have high CPMs; gaming channels have lower CPMs.
CTR (Click-Through Rate)
The percentage of people who clicked on your video after seeing the thumbnail. A high CTR (6% to 10%+) combined with good APV is the ultimate trigger for the YouTube recommendation algorithm.
R
RPM (Revenue Per Mille)
How much you actually keep per 1,000 views after YouTube takes its 45% cut of ad revenue. This is the most important AdSense metric for creators. It includes AdSense, Channel Memberships, and Super Chats.
S
SAC Code
The Services Accounting Code used by the Indian government for taxation. For YouTubers selling sponsored integrations to brands, the standard SAC code to use on your invoices is 998365 (Online advertising services).

Seed Audience
The initial, highly targeted group of viewers YouTube shows your new video to. If the Seed Audience reacts well (high CTR and APV), the algorithm pushes the video to a wider, colder audience.

T
TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)
When an Indian brand pays you for a sponsorship, they are legally required to deduct a percentage of your fee (usually 10% under section 194J) and pay it directly to the government on your behalf. You can claim this back when filing your income tax returns.
